An investment company had relied on SCCM and various third-party endpoint management solutions to image and configure its desktops. However, recognizing the advancement and capabilities of Microsoft 365’s Intune and Azure AD, the company's CTO decided to transition to a unified Modern Digital Workplace. This shift also included an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
"CoreView's Configuration Manager is a critical component of our Modern Digital Workplace and endpoint management programs. The platform enables essential governance for our Microsoft 365 environment. Since implementing Configuration Manager, our team has reduced the time spent managing endpoint configurations and building Intune application packages by an order of magnitude. The automation we achieved and efficiency we have gained has enabled us to reallocate a team of engineers to focus on delivering new value rather than maintaining our M365 infrastructure."
The organization faced the challenge of transitioning from a fragmented and expensive suite of solutions to a more streamlined and cost-effective system. The engineering team needed a way to implement this transition smoothly while minimizing disruption and ensuring efficiency in the deployment process.
The company leveraged CoreView’s Configuration Manager to address these challenges and streamline the transition process. The tool allowed the team to rapidly set up a non-production environment that closely mirrored their live configuration, enabling them to prototype and develop their solution efficiently.
By utilizing CoreView Configuration Manager’s capabilities for deploying Intune, the team was able to accelerate the development and implementation of their solution significantly. The team achieved this by utilizing replica test environments and CoreView Configuration Manager's promotion and approval features, which facilitated a smooth migration of the new configurations to the production environment. In instances where defects emerged, the tool made it easy for the team to identify changes and roll them back seamlessly.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the team executed a zero-touch deployment of over 500 Windows 10 devices, which were delivered straight from the manufacturer to end users. This innovative approach eliminated the need for the previous deployment method that required 4-6 hours per device of hands-on helpdesk and IT operations support, transforming the entire process into a self-service model with no support overhead. As a result, the resources devoted to managing the endpoint management system decreased dramatically, from 75% to less than 10%.
Additionally, by unifying its operations on the Microsoft 365 platform, the firm achieved an impressive annual reduction in licensing costs, amounting to $400,000.
